Faculty Interdisciplinary Scholars Presentations (Online Only)

This symposium will feature scholarship where the researchers have made an effort to make their findings accessible to the general public. The goal is to find ways to bridge the gap between the research findings we have at EKU and the people who will benefit from knowing about them.

Honors Thesis Presentations

Students in the Honors program will give their thesis presentations. All members of the EKU community are welcome to attend.

Aurora Launch & Reading

Aurora, a student led literary journal featuring fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, short film, visual art (including photography, comics/cartoons), music, and drama, will host an evening reading, open mic, and celebration of the launch of the journal’s recent issue.

Cultural Scholarship Showcase

The poster boards will highlight the significant historical or contemporary issues, ideas, movements, events, personalities, institutions, or groups that shape our understanding of the Black and Latino experience throughout the U.S., Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Presentations

The Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is a mainstay for many international and national graduate programs. The competition showcases public speaking and presentation skills as well as a graduate student’s ability to communicate research in a condensed time frame to a non-specialist audience. With only 180 seconds (three minutes), a single slide and no additional props or media, the competition will showcase some of the best and brightest graduate research projects at EKU. International Education Panel

Several members of EKU’s faculty have demonstrated excellence in education abroad teaching and scholarship. This panel highlights the accomplishments of some of these faculty. Specifically, the panelists will discuss how education abroad fosters collaboration with students, generates research opportunities, and enriches their teaching.

8th Annual Homeland Security Undergraduate Research Showcase

The showcase offers EKU students the opportunity to present their original research to the broader university community, including alumni, as well as external partners. Conducting research to produce high-quality scholarship is a desired skill of homeland security professionals. Likewise, research offers students the opportunity to contribute knowledge to the following disciplines that constitute homeland security: disaster management, intelligence studies, and security management. The EKU Homeland Security program aims to prepare graduates seeking careers protecting life and assets as homeland security and emergency management practitioners, who will become critical and creative thinkers, effective communicators, and leaders in their professional communities.
